 Japanese traditional fashion

Today, I would like to introduce Japanese traditional fashion 'Kimono' to you. Here's a brief explanation of Kimono:

Kimono (Japanese: 着物 literally “something one wears”) are the traditional garments of Japan.

Kimono was originally a word that referred to all types of clothing, but the word eventually came to refer specifically to the full-length robe-like garment still worn by women, men and children today.

There are several different types of kimono worn by women today. These are chosen according to the wearer’s gender and age, and the level of formality required.

Most of Japanese kimonos including obi, haori, yukata are derived from Kyoto, and each piece is unique with its own history and charm.

Have you ever seen or heard about 'Kimono'? And if poosible, would you introduce your country's traditional fashion to us? Hope to talk more.

People in China generally wore tunics (like long t-shirts). Women wore long tunics down to the ground, with belts, and men wore shorter ones down to their knees. Sometimes they wore jackets over their tunics. In the winter, when it was cold, people wore padded jackets over their tunics, and sometimes pants under them. In early China, poor people made their clothes of hemp or ramie. Rich people wore silk.

During the Sui Dynasty, in the 500's AD, the emperor decided that all poor people had to wear blue or black clothes, and only rich people could wear colors.

There's so many Dynasties back in the days that it's hard to keep up with my culture/heritage background. But here's some pictures I found.

Thank you for telling various precious information to us!

But Kimono's price is difficult to answer... because even Japanese cannot define the average of Kimono's price. As far as I know, it is from 200,000 to 2,500,000 yen...

I like modern underground japanese fashion, And those labels wich design clothes mixed with kimono style are goregous. ( like qutie frash )

Hi, Arachne. Yes, this is your favorite topic.^^ You have studied an area of designing? Kimono is very expensive, so some young Japanese girls wears it on a special day such as commencement ceremony... but they also wanna get it for themselves, I heard.

Everything I know is everything I read or tried. I learn all by myself unfortunately. I had designed very simple blause with long, kimono-style sleves. But I don't have enough experienc to make something really big.
